Peacefully at home on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in his 86th year. Survived by his wife Laureen and children Robert, Paul, Mark and Anne and his sister Willa. Predeceased by his brother Ken and sisters Jean, Beryl and Helen. Sadly missed by his four legged friends and companions Emma and Bonnie. Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Doney Funeral Home, Shelburne. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated.
"He was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast, and he sat around the Legion telling stories of the past. Of a war that he had fought in and the deeds that he had done and his exploits with his buddies, they were heroes, every one. And sometimes to his neighbors, his tales became a joke, but his Legion buddies listened, for they knew whereof he spoke. But we'll hear his tales no longer, for old Bill has passed away, and the worlds a little poorer, for a Soldier died today."
